We’re back from our last craft fair of the year, and soon will be updating our gallery of wares here on the site.
Wendy participated in a “Raku” firing at the Sharon Arts Center on Friday. The Raku process involves taking your pots out of the kiln while they are glowing red-hot and plunging them into a barrel of shredded newspaper (or sawdust or something similar), and closing the barrel. Not only is this fun and exciting, it creates what’s called “chemical reduction,” which can lead to some fantastic effects in the glazes.
Look for our Raku lamp bases (a new product for us), earring holders, and jackolanterns! (coming soon…)
Our Website, www.thorpeallen.com, has recently gone
through a major overhaul, and you can now purchase our wares
online! You are also able to interact with us and other visitors
to the site by adding your own comments, too. We’ll be adding
more stuff to the site in the coming weeks, so check back often
– and be sure to tell all your friends!
These 4-1/4 inch square Tiles make great Coasters, could be used as small Trivets, or could simply be hung for decoration (thus the holes in the corners that most of them have).
